This song is a detour from my usual Kdrama OST content.
The song itself, a bolero, is not actually of Cuban origin, being composed by Mexican composer Agustin Lara, even though it does refer to the "son" which is a Cuban genre of music. This piano arrangement is based off the version by Omara Portuondo, a 92-year old Cuban singer and still active! Her version is to me the most beautiful lush arrangement of the song that I've heard, plus the choice of chords makes it the most appealing. It really does carry the song's lyrics which includes phrases such as "Amor de mis amores" (Love of my loves), "Sangre de mi alma" (Blood of my soul).
Where the original had a muted trumpet playing some part of the melody before Omara returns on the vocals, I replaced it with what I think a pianist would have played instead. Also included additional arpeggiated scales, cause it just felt like they should go in there.
